Don't judge a book by it's bookmark

Evaluation :

What is CMYK? - CMYK refers to the 4 colours used in colour printing. Cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black), some sources suggest that the "K" in CMYK comes from the last letter in "black" and was chosen because B already means blue. The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking colors on a lighter, usually white, background. The ink reduces the light that would otherwise be reflected. Such a model is called subtractive because inks "subtract" brightness from white.

Why should you photoshop file to be 300dpi when sending to print? - It just gives the photo more clarity. If we print any lower than this the image will become pixelated.

Why should we send PDF files to printers via email? - A PDF is the abbreviation for a printed document format, this works on any type of machine or programme and is a small type of file, so email is the most appropriate source to send to any type of printer.

My artwork :

Bold or subtle? - I think the colours I used were very bold, and stood well out on the bookmark. I used orange to match the theme of my book.
Limited colour palette or many colours used? - I used quite a limited colour palette so the colours stayed constant all the way through.
Do you think the colours used, work well? - I think they work quite well because the majority of the colour that is used is orange but different shades of it. And just basic black and white for the other shapes so everything matches quite well together.

Use of text :

Choice of typeface (Why?) -  I used a mechanic looking font to match the theme of my bookmark.
Scale? - I used size 8 for my bookmark, I thought this fit well to the size scale of my actual book marks and also let me fit all my text on the page.
Colour? - I used black to match the 'clog' on my front side of my bookmark.

Does this reflect your theme well? - I think it reflects the theme well as it has the same sort of theme running through the bookmark.

Use of imagery :

Does this reflect the theme well? - I think the images are a fluent style throughout the book mark
Is the imagery abstract or realistic? - The images I created are to an abstract style and quite cartoon like
It it hand drawn, computer drawn or photographic? - The images are all computer drawn. I used illustrator to create my bookmark and the images.

Hierachy of information :

What do you read first and why is your eye drawn to this? I think that the first paragraph stands out the most as it is at the top of the page.
In your own opinion is the hierachy in the correct colour? -

Tools of techniques used:

What tools/techniques did you use? - To make my bookmark I used the pen tool, the fill tool, shape tools, the smooth tool, the text tool, the swatches tool and the anchor point tool.

What is most successful about your design or designs? What might you alter to make it more successful? - I think the strongest part about my work is that it stands out on the page and reflects the imagery of the book. If I was to alter my design I would probably try and make it a little more creative and when making it make sure that it fits together properly.
